Triathlon Weekend Kitzbühel

In early September - during the ITU Hamburg World Cup - Nice, London and Kitzbühel were shortlisted as potential venues for the Kitzbühel ITU Corporate Triathlon World Championships 2008. However, it was the efforts of the Kitzbühel delegation, headed by Kitzbühel’s director of tourism, Peter Marko; Kitzbühel Triathlon World Cup’s race director, Manfred Bachmann; which proved successful: Kitzbühel was awarded the venue for the Kitzbühel ITU Corporate Triathlon World Championships 2008, inheriting the legacy of Cancún/Mexico 2007. The event will be a key part of Kitzbühel Triathlon next July and will represent the first time an Kitzbühel ITU Corporate Triathlon World Championships has been held in Austria.
Kitzbühel has previously been host to two successful ITU summer events and relishes the opportunity to offer a platform for a wider spectrum of sports enthusiasts and spectators to enjoy. The Kitzbühel ITU Corporate Triathlon World Championships is a competition among corporate employees from around the world. International companies will send their most ambitious athletes to the games to compete head-to-head. Several hundred corporate sports enthusiasts are expected to arrive in Kitzbühel, the "Sports centre of the Alps" for a week of training and scintillating races. 
In addition, Kitzbühel has received verbal guarantee from the ITU to host the Kitzbühel BG Triathlon World Cup until 2010. Fiona Swarovski, the patron of the 2007 triathlon, will once again take on the role next year. Race director, Manfred Bachmann, is enthused by the decision: “Kitzbühel and triathlon are made for each other. Triathlon is a booming and very attractive sport with a lot of potential, and Kitzbühel offers athletes the ideal conditions for a great race.“
